‘Teen Mom 3′ Recap: Josh McKee Lashes Out At Mackenzie Douthit

Teen Mom 3 Recap

The girls are celebrating their kids’ first birthdays — but which dads will be in attendance for the big day, and which have had it with an entire year of  testing out responsible adult relationships? Find out what happened on the ‘Teen Mom 3′ season finale episode!

Mackenzie Douthit and Josh McKee struggle to define their family unit — they want the fun of being a young couple, but they have to communicate like adults — something neither of them are good at. When their relationship is tested once more, it cracks right before their eyes.

Mackenzie Douthit & Josh McKee Clash Over Communication Obstacles

Mackenzie is dealing with Josh’s inability to communicate — even when they’re not overtly fighting. Mackenzie’s friend is shocked that they don’t share any excitement anymore — whether it’s gushing about a cute rodeo outfit for Gannon or making out when they have some time together. (Because they don’t do either of these things, Mack’s friend can’t picture them as a couple 20 years into the future!) Josh and Mackenzie celebrate Gannon’s big day with their friends and family and have a wonderful time. When it’s just them, they run out of things to say — and as Mackenzie reflects back on a whirlwind year, Josh is deafeningly silent.
Mackenzie confides to her friend that she never has deep conversations with Josh, and it’s taking a toll on her — their “young love” ideology has been shattered. She talks to Josh about going to counseling, something that she has benefitted from attending alone. Articulate as ever, Josh mumbles that he’ll try it out. On their first trip to their counseling session, they fight. Every little detail is about them giving up on each other, from their silent car ride to them fighting about having the radio on or off. Josh snaps on Mackenzie and tells her to shut up when she gets heated — but his anger is nothing compared to when she picks up his phone. He pulls over his truck and gets out, saying that whatever they have is not a family. He threatens to leave her on the side of the road, and tells her that he’s done with her.

Alex Sekella Unwinds In Bermuda After Heartbreaking Phone Calls At Home

Alex Sekella gets a devastating phone call from her school: she learns that she is missing two credits and will not graduate and has to redo her senior year. Coming off of the disappointment thatMatt McCann never called to share Arabella‘s birthday, she is visibly harried from all of her efforts. Her mom, Wendy, tries to give her something to look forward to, and proses that the family goes on a vacation to Bermuda. On their trip, Alex reflects on her turbulent first year as a mom, and she tells her mom that the only thing she regrets is what she went through with Matt, but that everything she experienced with Arabella was a blessing. Wendy warns that the terrible twos and other major bumps in the parenthood road are ahead, but Alex seems poised to take them on.
While Alex soaks in the island sun, Matt reconnects with friends back home. He opens up to his friend about being homeless and kicked out of rehab, life obstacles that make him want to be a part of his daughter’s life. He regrets missing Arabella’s birthday, but wants to be there for “the 99 more to come.” He texts Alex about meeting up at the park, and although Alex’s grandma thinks she shouldn’t jump at the first lead he gives her, she wants to be able to co-parent, no how many second chances she needs to dole out. Alex makes plans to meet Matt at the park with Arabella, but he is over an hour and a half late, and she bails. Wendy warned her not to get her hopes up, but after being stood up again, she seems like she has run out of second chances.

Katie Yeager Wonders If Joey Maes Will Attend Molli’s First Birthday

Katie Yeager is still raw about her breakup with Joey Maes, so she reaches out to her friends to allow them to think rationally for her. Katie wants to invite Joey to Molli‘s first birthday so they can have a real family moment, but she admits that if he rejects the offer, she’ll be devastated. Katie calls Joey to see if he would be up to going on a family day trip to Salt Lake City. It sounds like a nice gesture, but Joey remembers the constant fighting that went down on their last trip to Salt Lake City, and doesn’t want to leave his new girlfriend, Brigette, out of the plans. Katie specifically doesn’t want Brigette there or in on the planning and when she tells Joey her feelings, this causes another argument. Later, Joey texts Katie that he changed his mind and will go to Salt Lake City with her, despite his reservations.
Katie and Joey share Molli’s big day together, and they really get along when Molli is concerned. Though their life isn’t the way Katie would have predicted it to be a year ago, she reflects on her year with Molli and admits that she’s happy with where they ended up. While a romantic reconciliation seems out of the question, Katie and Joey seem to respect each other as parents — and remember the close friends that they used to be.

Briana DeJesus Reaches Out To Devoin Austin After Months Of Distance

Briana DeJesus takes some time out of her school work to start planning Nova‘s first birthday party. Briana and her mom, Roxanne, bond over doing Nova’s hair — and Briana says it’sDevoin Austin‘s fault that their daughter doesn’t have Briana’s hair. While they’re talking about Devoin, Briana’s mom recommends reaching out to Devoin to invite him to Nova’s birthday, and gauge his interest in getting back into her life. Briana invites Devoin over before Nova’s party and he brings a giant box of diapers for Nova, which Briana thinks is a “good first step.” He is shocked at how much Nova has grown since he last saw her, and he adorably calls her a little “muffin.” The rest of Briana’s family isn’t quite as impressed with Devoin’s efforts — Briana’s Aunt Christinaisn’t impressed that “the boy bought one box of Pampers in the entire year” — but Briana wants to encourage the little things. The women in Briana’s life just want her to not have to rely on a man, and they are so impressed with how great of a job she has been doing raising her daughter.
Devoin helps Briana’s mom set up for Nova’s party, and the event looks beautiful. Roxanne apologizes to Devoin for flipping out on him earlier in the year, and insists that she was just looking out for her family. Devoin still seems shocked at how much Nova is starting to look like him, and it makes the fact he has a baby very real. While Briana freely tells Devoin that she doesn’t need him for anything — but Nova does. She’s still not looking for him to show up every once in a while, she wants a stable presence for her daughter.
What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Do you think it was right that all the girls invited their guys to the kids’ first birthday celebrations?
